On my last trip in december 2011, i bought Liberty Haze, Liberty Melt and Tangerine Dream.

Liberty Haze was a nice smoke, but I preferred the Tangerine Dream. The one I got, had a really nice smell, taste and effect.

Together with my mate we bought one gram of Liberty Melt for 60 Euro. It was a really oily peace of hash. Though it was a powerful smoke, I think it´s not worth the money, I prefer some high grade hazes or kushs.

I have to admit, I visited Barney´s Coffeeshop many times since 2006 but never sat down in the coffeeshop. I always liked their smoke. I always preferred to sit in Barney´s Uptown to breakfast and smoke there.

I can't rate this coffeeshop highly enough. After 8 trips to Amsterdam over more than a decade, I have to say that Barney's is BY FAR the best coffee shop for someone like me - an older professional looking for a higher end experience.

Atmosphere: Barney's is Amsterdam's #1 high-end establishment. Volcano at every table. Very nice room and decorations. Good music (usually some type of modern chill) and service. I've not found a nicer high-end shop.

Staff: They are polite, attentive, and well trained. Last trip, James (one of the main budtenders) even remembered my name from the last visit. Quite different from one of their main competitors in AD; who IME offer much less attentive service, and don't seem to care so much for the customers.

Weed: It is expensive here. In my experience, however, is worth it if you don't mind paying for top shelf. The buds are well cared for, trichomes always highly intact and abundant. I travel with a scope; Some of the gear from other shops looks great to the eye, but up close has been mangled with poor handling, or even skuffed for hash before sale (some, not all).

** NOTE: Go by the budtender recommendations and you're own common sense on your weed choice. Don't just pick the CC winner from last year. It isn't always the best of the list. I've learned after attending the cup how it goes. Barney's and GH always win because they are the most popular shops and give out free samples to everyone. Not a knock on this shop - but winning the Cannabis Cup is more promotion than potency. ***

Hash/Concentrates: Hash is very good here; but very expensive too (particularly ice/nederhash). Quality is probably the best they can probably do with high volume traffic and mechanical separation. You can find much better concentrates (BHO, wax) if you shop around though.

Souvenirs: Often ignored, but this is important too I think. I've got Barney's shirts from when this place was still a breakfast bar. They still hold up in the laundry. My last 2 shirts from RooR had the lettering start to fade after the first time in the wash. Barney's does seem to sell quality stuff; and lots of options too.

After making so many trips, I've come to regard Barney's as my #1 shop. Always a wonderful experience. I sincerely hope they don't make this wietpass a reality; I'd miss my Barney's too much!

BTW - I second the above. On my last 2 trips, Tangerine Dream was superb; better than the Liberty Haze... I broke up about .3 grams and proceeded to get 9 (large size) bags of vapor off it. Granted by 7 it was light; but 9 bags on one chamber is a stupid amount of THC by any measure.

No, they have Barney's Lounge elsewhere. Walked to it once but it was closed. :(

Was in there in Summer 10' when the renovations were already done. The Shop got bigger and completely lost its former vibe. Everytime we walked past the shop it was hugely packed with all kinds of people. Budtenders were really busy as there were so much people. They have also been pretty rude and it seemed that they just wanted to sell as much as they can, no matter what the customers were thinking about. Bought G13/Haze which was a good smoke, but I would not consider to stay at Barneys anymore.

I used to smoke my 1st Amsterdam Joint ever at Barneys in Summer 07 when it was the Oldschoolshop. Got White Whiddow and it was an amazing smoke with nothing to complain about. Prices were also cheaper at this time. Due to the massive changes I give Barneys a 4/10 for being so commercial, formerly I would have given them a 8/10 ;)

Just my 2 cents

im just back from a weekend in the dam and i can safely say barneys breakfast bar is the best in town and also has the best triple zero hash money can buy i wudnt say the weed was the best but in terms of comfort and usability with a volcano on each table barneys is way ahead id also say the staff were deffo the most reliable source of info i found in the dam too with regards to the weed dope scene everything they told us in there was spot on. the staff even took time out there busy shift to explain things that were going on in amsterdam not like the rest of the coffee shops who just wanted to sell you the dearest bit of weed they could most of which was a pure rip off and never worth my hard earned jobseekers allowance

my experience is exactly the opposite with them usually trying to push buying their weed quickly and never taking enough time for my questions. I can understand that as they usually have a line at the counter but that is the reason that make me dislike this shop. On the other hand I found other quiet shops a great spot to have a chat with the tenders about the situation in amsterdam and the coffeeshop scene in general

I've visited this past weekend and I thought of all the best coffee by far, high quality, very friendly buttender even had a Spanish guy who recommended great, the buttender who did not speak my language endeavored to listen and help me and gave me good herbs. Liberty very good smoke haze, I'm hoping I get a letter and I got the rest reported. totally recommended. Coffee very good and creamy, fantastic day and night.

Just got back from the dam and I can defo say that Barneys was still top of my list. G13 haze was quality every day of my trip as was tangerine dream .the pineapple chunk was perfect had that good old skunk smell and a really fruity flavour it was that good that i got 5g on the first day and went back for another on the second.

Got to be a 9/10 for Barneys a must visit on every trip in my opinion
