Suppose I've got a nice indica strain like northern lights, I've heard that flowers in like 6-8 weeks. But how long would I have to veg a clone before allowing it to flower?
i am assuming your growing indoors,so if they clones have taken(meaning since they were cut from the mother plant they have rooted in there rock wool, jiffy pellets etc)
now if so then re-pot into 5 ltr pots& like growing from seeds the same pricipals apply(well nearly the same applies)
1.put on a 18/6 light cycle, floro will do but if you have a more intense light ie metal halide or CFL blue ,use them.(cfl you can put right on top of plants but if using mh lights place plants around 18 inches to 3 foot away from plants, depending on the wattage 1000 watts will be 3 foot+,lower wattage then put closer etc....)
2.wait until you see the roots appear at bottom of pot then re-pot into the size that they will stay for the duration of flowering(11-15 ltr pots are fine,it depends on the size of your growing area)NEVER PUT RIGHT INTO BIG POTS FROM CLONES
3.finally veg under mh or cfl on 18/6 cycle & wait until pre-flowers show(thats only the pistols showing the little v shaped hairs)PRE-FLOWERS HAVE NOW APPEARED
4.leave in darkness for at least 24 hours ,36 is better but both are fine, then put either your hps or cfl red spec light in & put on a 12/12 cycle and hey presto your into flowering.
NOW THERES NOT A SPECIFIC TIME FOR THIS PROCESS BUT IF CLONES ARE ALLREADY TAKEN I WOULD SAY ROUGHLY 4-6 WEEKS WOULD SUFFICE&THATS YOUR CLONES GROWING&THEN THE VEG PERIOD(DEPENDING ON WHAT STRAIN OF WEED YOUR GROWING.
ITS A MATTER OF PREFERENCE & CONDITIONS)
REMEMBER NOT TO PUT INTO FLOWER UNTIL PRE-FLOWERS APPEAR.
now im away back to tend to my little ladies who are into there veg period which has been 2 weeks now & pistols are appearing but i,ll wait till enough pre-flowers appear before i put into flower, probably around another 2-3 weeks?
PATIENCE IS A VIRTUE BUT IS VERY SELDOM USED
