1 plant left, and it's a hermi!?!?!

So yeah, I germinated 5 seeds. One didn't make it past the seedling stage. The others grew beautifully. And so I had 4 lovely looking plants. Until they started flowering. They were all male

. I was about to cut them all down, until I noticed female pistils on one of them. Trouble is, there were what I thought were male balls on it too. I cut the male flowers from the plant and the female buds seem to be growing ok, but just on the top. My question is, is it worth growing it, bearing in mind it's my only plant. Will it grow totally female?? Any help will be totally appreciated.

P.S. I smoked 1 single leaf from a male I cut down and was STONED. I found this surprising, but have kept all the remains and plan to make hash as from that taster I'm sure it'll give me a little something to get by on.

you should give it a try, still better than having no plant. as you already said, you can make hash out of it, if it doesnt work out with the flowers so well

yes but the buds will be sparse,have poor potency & unless you keep nipping the male polen sacks it will self pollinate.
if they self pollinate they might or might not be viable to grow as they will be either sterile or simply hollow.

WHAT PART OF MALES CAN BE SMOKED?........."NONE AT ALL" unless you like coughing your lungs out!....(surprised that you toked a leaf & got stoned mate

it was probably some chemical reaction as theres no thc in males & thc is what female buds produce,not males)
but you can make tinctures or hash(low grade hash) or HAPPY BUTTER very nice for spacecakes etc..........

also i need more info scanner like are you growing indoors,what is your set up,procedures etc?

plus you germinated 5 seeds & apart from the 1 that never made it past seedling stage they all turned into males,a real bummer mate, but i posted a way of producing more females from regular seeds a couple of weeks back so take a look & next time try it & i guarantee you that you,ll be back saying you got more females, TRUST ME

personally i would discard the plant & go again,i know its your only 1 on the go but the time you waste growing something that gives you very little back in return when you could get another 5 plants (ALL FEMALES) started &hopefully have donkey dicks as buds,+no hermies,is more productive in the long run,as the time it takes to fully grow your hermie you could be into your veggie stage with your 5 plants therefore only 8-10 weeks before harvest whereas you stalling with what you allready have is wasting time.

Thanks for your help guys. Well since i last posted there have been no more male flowers appearing, and there are now female buds starting EVERYWHERE!! It's looking beautiful. I'm thinking I'm gonna stick this one out, I can't kill her when she looks so good!

My set up is 250w metal halide for vegging, 250w HPS for flowering. All indoors.

Al, how can male plants be made into hash/butter if they contain no thc? Surely any use of the plant would be pointless if what you say is true? I've done some research into this and it seems male plants do produce thc, and apparently have more thc in it's leaves than a female. I admit smoking the leaf tasted like shit, but it did get me stoned. Not as stoned as a joint full of bud - obviously, but it did stone me.

I'll keep you updated if you're interested? Possibly with pictures?

scanner if males produce more THC than females then we would all be growing males as its the thc that we,re wanting,yes?

males do produce thc but in very little amounts,although its been said that some are comparible to females, but only said & to my knowledge not been proved ,most growers discard males ASAP,as you would have noticed when you looked into it(unless there using them to polinate and produce seeds)

my advice is get the 2 big pots ready & unsalted butter,a collander that fits into your 2nd pot, a large piece of cheesecloth a big spoon& potato masher & get ready to make your butter mate

keep me informed bud as you,ve got me really interested in this grow is it a female or male or a hermie

Cheers Al. I think I'd go down the hash route though as I definitely prefer to smoke it. I didn't mean that males produce more thc than females, I meant that male cannabis plants have more thc in their leaves than a female does in her leaves. Albeit a small amount, I think it's still enough to make hash out of? Hope so anyway as it's drying out as we speak! Lookin forward to pressin n smokin it!

The plant is looking good by the way. There was one sus flower that I'd noticed from the start & I've just cut it off. It looked like the usual pod that the female hairs come from, but along with the hairs there was also a pointy looking thing which I thought may have been the start of a male banana?

Apart from that, all's looking good. I'd like to put up some proper pictures but I only have the camera on my phone and it doesn't snap too good. Will have to invest in a digi camera I reckon.

I went with the hash. It was awesome stuff!

But only made about 4 and a half joints out of 3 plants.
