Whilst a fine is a better option than a criminal record, it still sucks. They could make more by just legalising it and taxing it.

Yeah Dave, I'll take any positive steps at this point. Legalization is the utopian ideal that I doubt will be reached in my lifetime, but, you never know.

However, imagine the same deal with alcohol.

Why don't they ban it, yet fine people when caught drinking, or tipsy/drunk?

/Cause it's a bloody ridiculous idea, that's why.

They tried that in 1919 when the 18th ammendmant to the constitution was ratified. We all know how that ended.

Because rightly or wrongly booze is a socially acceptable drug. As MH has been saying, its down to us if we want cannabis to be legalised to make a effort and show in force. Rather than just ripping the shit out a drug clasification system on a forum.

I read somewhere that the revenues weed generates in the Uk each year is 2nd only to oil,Weve got the black economy & the legit 1.

ever thought this way...if they get their way and totally ban tobacco...bad for me,good for me possibly......bad because i'll have to give up,bad for country in LOST REVENUE....which (good) adds pressure to the fight of legalise and TAX....tobacco growers could then convert to producing biofuel from hemp etc to compensate and we get to toke free without risk of persecution ...everybody would win in my eyes blurry and bloodshot as they are .....utopian?...yes.....workable? possible
