ACD Page: Flashback

So I saw there was no poll/thread for Coffeeshop Flashback in the West. It along with a slew of other Moroccan-owned coffeeshops situated in the West, have gained a reputation, even cult following amongst this forum's hash aficionados, old-timer Dutch 'heads, and avid resin-head Moroccan locals.

What are your thoughts. Per Peng's travelogue there was still only one type of hash on offer, I did ask nor receive a name-branding, so I'll call it unknown (aka "Super Pollen" because that's what Peng called it).

Unkown Maroc AKA Flashback Super Polm

Price:
9 euros per gram

Appearance: Reddish-brown to blonde hue, very typical Maroc coloration. Doesn't seem to be extremely tight pressed nor oily.

Feel (consistency):
this is where we have much indication that this is a proper classic maroc. If not held the hash hardens, but not quite to that bone-dry, "snap" level of dryness/hardness. As soon as the hash is kneaded in the slightest at body temp, by hands, it gives quite easily and becomes a semi-sticky malleable mass. Doesn't feel oily the least to be honest, perhaps this is indeed what dry-sift import should be. As rosin it forms into a very stable snap-and-pull shatter, which can sit in one's palm for quite sometime before "melting" into the skin (this is rare among hash rosins as they're usually much more sticky and viscous, tar-like), at the same time it is not "shatter bomb" so dry that it can scarcely be collected into coherent mass without splintering and shattering all over the place.

Bouquet:
Here we pick very subtle fruity notes, think melon fruits. Most strongly is a described by Peng as a fresh root smell, which I in turn envision as a spicy ginger root aroma. A delicate smattering of floral, with a peppery hint of cedar finish of this hash in a deeply complex aroma of heady old-school resin making, yum! The bouquet is not lost in the rosin-process, and the finished product is very "maroc-terpy".

Taste: (a) smoked raw in the bong the taste was decent enough, but the problem is my palate has become so accustomed to consuming hash as rosin, that the taste is so much harsher, and dare I even say contaminated, when compared with (b) after the first bong bowl I opted to just press it all into rosin instead of saving a few more bong bowl's worth. Taste translates flawlessly via dab - spicy cedar, and ginger-root, with a subtle citric hint tanging on the back the palate rounded out by a creamy finish, sorry OHMF, I beg to differ with you on the best way to consume hashish - rosin it or bust!

Buzz:
(a) as raw hash in the bong, the buzz is a smooth, relaxing stone, with a pleasurable "bodyload", and surprisingly potent, the buzz is somewhat more "one-dimensional" in the old-school buzz kind of sense, and this is not at all a bad thing. (b) rosin, buzz mostly the same with less of the pleasurable bodyload, but obviously more overall potency pound-for-pound.

Value: at 9 a gram one certainly can't complain, this one ticks all the boxes; although given shop's local ambience and location outside the center I feel it could be a euro to 50 cents cheaper on the gram; nonetheless that's just nitpickyness given that this is 'Dam in 2016

Composite:
a top-shelf classic Maroc, with a respectable price-tag. Leukstenugs approved!

Fantastic review dude :) And I'm with you on the rosin from good quality imports - i agree with you that concentrating those classic landrace flavours can be intensely pleasurable. This one you're reviewing sounds Bob-on.

Last week:

This time bought something for the first time here, also on this ocassion they had a renovation going on but some people were already sitting inside and smoking. Will take a while though. Ordered a gram of their hash(9€/g) and agree with DeLeuksteNUGS16, especially on that ginger smell.
Was my first smoke after a three weeks break but was more of a clear uplifting and relaxing high. Nothing outstanding but would like to have this quality at home any time :) !

Nice quality Beldia @ 12€/g
Clean smoke, original moroccan, pleasant flavor, yellow/mid brown and a bit sticky, exactly what i was looking for.
They had only one this one and it’s really worth for the price. Not sure if they have 5g deals bc no menu on display and i just got 1g to try.
