Can you recommend day trip?

Post by Badfrog »

Visiting the city for the first time with 2 friends Nov. 30-Dec 4th and was just wondering can any of you recommend a nice one day side trip out of the city (already have Haarlem on my list) to see the countryside and soak in some of the amazing sites ?

Alkmaar was kinda cool...reallly mellow and quaint

other just went to the Keukenhof gardens and say good things

then there is also the beach which sounds nice especially as it warms up

Utrecht was a nice daytrip for us one year...impressive centrum once you get out of the huge station ...

don't know if you've got this link to the NL rail site. Looks like return ticket for Alkmaar or Utrecht is 11.70

I've not been myself yet, but I hear Deventer, near Apeldoorn is a really nice little town. Several coffeeshops there, but in some smaller towns opening hours are more restricted, so watch out for that!
